Presenting the Best of New York State

Imagine the fun of running with your team while reawakening your senses to the natural beauty and tranquil pleasures of the breathtaking Catskill Mountains. The relay adventure begins in the famed town of Woodstock, which is centered in the heart of one of the most historic, sophisticated and boldly beautiful parts of the southeastern Catskill region. A long time artist's community, this charming town, has a unique vibe and vibrant pulse that is just right for getting your team off to a great start.

The course highlights include scenic country towns, bucolic farmlands and orchards as you leap frog your way through the Hudson River Valley. This spectacular stretch is lined with splendid historic sites, unique museums, charming country manor houses and lively Hudson River front towns.

It is no wonder that it is considered one of the most beautiful regions in the eastern United States. See for yourself why these magnificent landscapes were the inspiration for America's first art school, the Hudson River School of Painters.

The Sidewalks of New York

Those little town blues will start melting away as your relay team heads toward the finish line in the Bronx. All it takes is a New York minute to see why it's like no other place on earth.

Only here will you experience those sublime moments that New York City is famous for. Only here will you enjoy that king/queen of the hill, top of the heap feeling of accomplishment and team camaraderie.

A rocking finish line party is complete with live music, awards, great food and friends.

Run, Drive, Sleep, Repeat

It is easier than you think! Gather your lucky friends together for a memorable running adventure that they won't want to miss. It will be memorable, and your friends will thank you!

Need a few new friends? No problem, the Ragnar folks can help you find team members who'll quickly become familiar, perhaps even lifelong friends.

One of the best aspects of the relay format is that it is an accessible race for beginners, yet challenging enough for the most competitive. Fear not, you do not have to be an elite runner. Although the relay race is physically demanding, the legs vary in difficulty, and runners can choose their individual legs. Everyone will be happy!

Your relay team will consist of 12 members or six-person ultra teams. During the relay, each team member runs three legs (ultras run six), each leg ranging between 3 and 8 miles and varying in difficulty.

Each team is responsible for providing two support vehicles, with six runners in each vehicle. The first vehicle will drop off the first runner, drive ahead a few miles, cheer the runner on and replenish them with water and snacks. That vehicle will then drive ahead to the first exchange point to drop off the second runner, and pick up the first runner when the leg is complete.

They will repeat this pattern for six legs until they hand off to their second vehicle. Teams repeat the pattern as they leap frog their way to the finish line!
