The ZOOMA Women's National Event Series, 2011

The focus of the highly regarded ZOOMA Women's Running Series is to create quality events that provide women with a competitive platform; one that showcases seasoned athletes and novices alike. What a great way to take charge of your health and fitness.  This series has grown to include seven events nationwide, attracting women of all ages and athletic abilities who run for many different reasons.

Thousands of women will cross a ZOOMA finish line this year, and even more as the events grow into 2012.  You can be part of it!  The idea is empower women to feel the exhilaration, pride, and sense of personal accomplishment that result from meeting fitness challenges head on, and accomplishing goals.   And of course, the concept is to have the best, most memorable time ever while doing so.  Whether you are an accomplished runner or a novice, whether you run a 5K or 10K, or participate in one of their signature half marathons, the ZOOMA Women's Series welcomes you and invites you to cross that triumphant finish line.  Anyone is welcome to participate in these women's races.

The first and most immediate opportunity is the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon and accompanying 10K, coming right up on June 5, 2011.  If you hurry you can be part of this historic run from the famous Navy Marine Corps Stadium right around the Maryland state capitol and through historic downtown Annapolis—this opportunity to run through the capital is practically unprecedented.  Very few races go though this Capital City on the Chesapeake Bay.  Post race celebrations will be in the stadium end zone, including a great expo.

Other events will follow in the next few months.  The ZOOMA Colorado Half Marathon and 10K will run on July 17 in Colorado Springs.  The amazing ZOOMA Cape Cod Half Marathon and 10K will take place in the running center of the Cape, Falmouth, Massachusetts on October 1.  Only three weeks later ZOOMA moves to the Great Lakes with the ZOOMA Great Lakes Half Marathon and 5K, which will roll in Fontana, Wisconsin—about 85 miles north of Chicago.  They then take this unique movement to the South with ZOOMA Atlanta Half Marathon and 5K on November 26; then ZOOMA Florida will present a warm and sunny half and 10K in January.  The ZOOMA Austin, Texas Half Marathon and 5K ran this year on March 31, 2011; it will come around again on March 29, 2012.

What about ZOOMA?

The mission is,  "to inspire women to live healthy and active lives'.  We all know that fellow runners encourage each other, and women love to celebrate personal triumphs and enjoy the spirit of the moment together.  And after their victory, these goal-oriented women share "well deserved partying and pampering" at each event.

It all began in June of 2008 with the running of the first event in Annapolis, Maryland-over 1,600 runners enjoyed that innaugural. Since then growth has been steady and well planned, as they have targeted interesting regions around the country.  Their success has been driven by many factors, including providing what women want; holding events in the right regions, setting up resorts and spas to provide comfort and pampering throughout; establishing expos of interest to women athletes, teaming with charities in each location, and so much more.  Finally, they are expert in working with town governments and civic groups where the events are held.
