LONG ISLAND, NY -- Continental Event & Sports Management Group, LLC producers of the inaugural Diva's Half Marathon and Girls 5K -- Long Island, are announcing the registration price increase for the Diva's Half Marathon. At 11:59 p.m. ET on April 15, the registration fee for the event will jump to $75 from the current $60.
This will be the last opportunity to register for the nominal fee of $60, which includes a women's only half marathon, race shirt, a packed runner's bag and an experience so wonderful that it will be truly one for a diva. From young men at the finish line presenting all finishing divas with a one-of-a-kind medal to entertainment on the course and some of the best technical shirts in the industry, the entire event will be catered to the diva within all runners.
"We could have never imagined how popular this race would become," said event director Robert Pozo. "With over 150 registrations per week, we are experiencing a rush that will have this race sold out months before race day. Most of the preliminary marketing has been done at similar events and on Facebook but now, with the heart of the marketing campaign starting this week we are expecting numbers that exceed any of our expectations."
When asked about the partnership with Long Island and its community, Pozo said that all officials and agency representatives working on the event, along with the local running community, have truly rolled out the red carpet.
"We have felt right at home from day one," Pozo said.
The long awaited Long Island women's-only running event will be the first race of the Women's National Running Series? traveling throughout the United States with stops in Honolulu, Hawaii and San Juan, Puerto Rico as well as other destination cities in the future.
The Women's National Running Series? with its first event, The Diva's Half Marathon? and Girls 5K, will re-invent women's running across the United States. These races are dedicated to the power, resilience and determination of women.
"This is a great opportunity for women to celebrate being a woman and participate while other men and women cheer them on," Pozo said. "Mothers, daughters, sisters, wives and friends will be participating in this incredible event that will be geared strictly for them. This format has worked for all-women triathlon series, but women-only running events tend to be one race events rather than national series. We believe that tying in various destination cities will make the difference in participation and when you add to that the fact that the distance of half marathons is becoming ever more popular, you have got a winner on your hands."
The Diva's Half Marathon? is not just a race but an event weekend where women can run or walk among thousands of others and be catered to as the strong and powerful individuals they truly are. The long weekend will begin on Thursday, September 30 with a gala, fundraiser and bachelor auction. The Mitchell Athletic Complex will host a Health & Fitness Boutique on Friday, October 1 and Saturday ,October 2. Other weekend activities include a Friendship Run and Pow Wow taking place in Eisenhower Park on Saturday morning, a Movie in the Park (Eisenhower Amphitheatre, weather permitting) on Saturday night and finally the Diva's Half Marathon and Girls 5K on Sunday morning.
The race will have entertainment on the course, and special Diva stops like the feather boa station and tiara stop, an ageless category for those not wanting to divulge their age, a Two-Tu Relay and dance lessons at the finish line party.
