Sandi Scrimgeour

Prescott, Arizona

Sports: Mountain biking, cycling and trail running

Age: 43

Profession: Massage therapist

How I got started in sports: I started cycling with a college friend who was doing triathlons, and in 1987 I bought my first mountain bike. Since then, there's been no turning back.

Athletic highlights: Racing the 2003 Whiskey Row Half Marathon and the 2003 Arizona State Championship Mountain Bike Race in the same day. Placing sixth overall at the 2007 Christiansen 13.7 Trail Run and being the first female to finish at the 2007 Payson Stampede 20-Mile Mountain Bike Race.

Athletic goals: To recover from plantar fasciitis and compete in more mountain bike races and runs.

Best advice you've received: Race your own race.

Favorite racing memories: Completing the Death Valley to Mount Whitney Road Race in 2000 with my best friend who has since passed away from a cycling accident, and running with my mom when she completed her first race at age 72.

In my free time: I enjoy riding my Suzuki Enduro and would love to race sport bikes someday.
