You've been working hard to lose weight, transform your body and live a more healthy life. With all that determination, what could be holding you back? Believe it or not, you could be your own worst enemy. I have to admit...even I have been guilty of sabotaging myself. From emotional eating to binge eating to skipping breakfast, I have done the worst of it. At times, I still struggle with finding balance in my life, but I have made leaps and bound over the last few years and now I want to share what I've learned on my journey.
Whether you want to lose weight or just maintain your current weight, sabotaging your diet is something a lot of people experience. One thing is true; a lot of what's stopping you from your goals is in your mind. Here are a few things you need to stop doing in order to maintain healthy lifestyle.
Late-Night SnackingThe trouble with late night snacking is that most of the time you've already eaten the calories you need for the day, but you're still eating because you're still awake. Many people tend to eat a good portion of their calories in the evening, which spells disaster for the waistline. Make be sure to stop eating at least two hours before you hit the bed.
Immediate Gratification Eating
Eating the instant you get hungry is a sure way to bring your diet down. Plan your meals and snacks for the day to avoid impulse eating. Be sure to eat every 3 to 4 hours to avoid mindless grazing.
Shop With a PurposeDon't go to the grocery store hungry. If you do, before you know it you will end up with a large bill and mounds of unhealthy foods. Eat before you hit the store to reduce any temptations. Get Drastic: Okay, so this may not be your most favorite way to curb overeating, but if you really want to get scared straight then try on an article of clothing that is almost too small. If that doesn't stop you from reaching for that brownie, not much will.
Go for a run, walk around the block, jump rope or take a relaxing, hot shower. Listen to some of your favorite tunes or read a page-turning book. Need more ideas? Jump into a fitness class like, Zumba, yoga or Pilates.
