How I’ve Maintained My Long-Term Weight Loss

If you’ve lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off, then you know how much harder the maintenance phase can be. After losing 75 pounds in one year, I realized that transforming my body was not about how I looked in the mirror—rather, it was about creating a life that was free from high cholesterol, chronic pain and the debilitating symptoms that came from living with depression and anxiety.

And now, after decades of yo-yo dieting, one year of lifestyle changes and six years of maintenance, I can finally say that I’ve ditched the diet mentality. While it hasn’t been easy, it’s definitely been worth it. Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way that have helped me maintain my long-term weight loss.
