Achilles Tendinitis: Tips and Prevention

Overuse your Achilles tendon, and there’s a good chance you’ll experience Achilles tendinitis. This band of tissue connects calf muscles to your heel bone, going along the back of your lower leg. nRunners can get this when suddenly increasing intensity or duration of their runs; or people who are middle-aged and playing sports can experience it.

In the beginning, symptoms include a mild ache in the back of the leg or above the heel after running. The pain will get worse and you’ll probably feel more tender or stiff as it progresses.

Most cases can be resolved with at-home remedies. If the pain is severe, you’ll want to seek medical attention as you may have a torn Achilles tendon.
