About this event

Description

We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

As part of the Paint The Town plein air event, artist Jill McGannon will be offering an Oils or acrylics workshop for all skill levels. Jill will take students through the creation of a plein air painting, from selecting what to paint, creating a strong and dynamic composition, to the block in and then painting. Veteran painters will build upon their skillsets working with an award-winning artist. She'll demonstrate working from large shapes to small, dark to light, and thin to thick paint. Starting with a 2-color block in, then mixing secondary colors from a palette of a warm and a cool of each primary color to create color harmony in the final painting. Jill will do a 1-hour demo, then students will start blocking in their paintings. After lunch break, Jill will quickly go back over her approach to plein air, then students will continue to paint. Jill will be walking around during the class to offer suggestions, tips and critiques as everyone paints
