Rockwood Museum is opening for tours beginning Saturday, May 1. If you love history, you will enjoy a tour of New Castle County's beautiful Rockwood Museum.
Joseph Shipley, a Quaker merchant banker, built Rockwood between 1851 and 1854. Its Gothic Rivival architecture and enchanting landscape were designed to reflect the beauty of an English country estate.
The museum reflects the way the Bringhurst family, descendants of Shiply, lived during the turn of the 20th century.
Tours are one hour and a half in length, which includes a short video presentation prior to the start of the tour.
