The Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) Swim was created and designed to be a program with a strong recreational format for the non-ranked, non-sanctioned participant. Competition has its place in the program and all participants are encouraged to do their best, however, it must be emphasized that the competitive nature is of secondary importance. The development of skills and sportsmanship, while stressing participation for all and assuring each swimmer experiences some degree of success, are the main goals of this program. A swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards non-stop using freestyle and backstroke, and be comfortable in deep water. Skill assessments will take place January 27 from 6 to 7p.m. at Parker Recreation Center, no pre-registration required. Swimmers must have a skill assessment before registering. Fee includes swim cap, swimmer must provide their own swim suit and goggles.
