Best Cooking Gifts for Mom
Toscana Mia Virtual Cooking Class
There's something special about giving someone an experience rather than an object. If your mom loves to cook, this gift might be right up her alley. The Toscana Mia Virtual Cooking Class is a real-time, 60-minute long cooking class. Follow along with Italian food experts at the Toscana Mia Cooking School in Tuscany, Italy where you'll learn how to make fresh pasta and a variety of homemade sauces. For just $50 (a price point that's more affordable than an in-person class), mom can have an hour-long, live lesson on the basics of Italian cooking and pasta making. Since the class is virtual, it's available to anyone in the United States with an internet connection.
And if you want to make this gift that much special, join in on the class for quality time with mom and a chance to learn about Italian cooking together. Just be aware that because this is a live class, you have to reserve a specific time slot before you book.
- Live, which gives you the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the cooking instructors
- Enjoy from the privacy of home
- A gift you can enjoy together
- 2 gifts in 1; opportunity to learn and cook, but also enjoy a meal
- Limited time slots available due to time difference
- This live class isn't mobile compatible; a desktop or laptop is necessary
AeroGarden Sprout Indoor Hydroponic Herb Garden
Anyone who loves to cook will tell you how important it is to work with fresh herbs when possible. They add an amazing depth of flavor to any dish, but they can be finicky and difficult to care for, especially if your kitchen doesn't get much natural light for growing indoor plants. If your mom has a green thumb, consider getting her the AeroGarden Sprout which uses a hydroponic system to grow herbs indoors.
With built-in grow lights, you can grow herbs in most indoor conditions, regardless of the light your kitchen receives. Plants grow faster in hydroponic systems than in soil, and the roots receive more oxygen, which produces a better-tasting plant. The Sprout device takes care of everything in your herb garden. It’s simple to set a timer for the LED grow lights, and it reminds you when it’s time to refill with water or add nutrients. The Sprout comes with space for three small plants, which mom could use to grow fresh herbs like basil, small flowers, or even baby heirloom tomatoes. If you think she’ll want to grow more plants, it’s probably worth investing in a larger garden, but the Sprout is a good place to begin indoor gardening, and it even comes with a seed pack to get her started.
- Compact, conserves counter space
- Automated options
- No messy soil
- Fresh herbs all year round
- Available in black or white
- Sleek, modern design
- Requires regular water, nutrients, and maintenance
- Pricier gift than other options
ChefSofi Charcuterie Board Serving Platter Set
Charcuterie boards have been all the rage for the last several years. These aesthetically-pleasing platters of meat, cheese, and vegetables have become an art form just as much as a flavorful appetizer. If your mom loves entertaining, this ChefSofi charcuterie board set is a fun way for her to explore a new avenue of artistic expression while also providing a tasty snack to friends and family.
Open the circular board, where you’ll find a hidden compartment for cheese knives. The set includes the acacia wood charcuterie board (13 inches in diameter), four ceramic serving bowls, and four serving knives. And if mom isn't familiar with charcuterie boards, consider pairing this set with a how-to book or an online class which provides greater detail on the art of charcuterie. Also note this is a wood serving platter, meaning it requires special care with detailed washing and handling instructions. But if the mom in your life loves to cook and entertain, this charcuterie board set has potential to bring some fun to dinner parties for years to come.
- Bowls and serving knives included
- Stylish round design
- Difficult to clean and maintain
Ice Shaker Bottle (36 oz.)
We know what you're thinking—$45 for a water bottle? Hear us out. For the mom who regularly makes drinks with protein or green powders, collagen, adaptogens, or any other powdered drink additive, this Ice Shaker bottle will be a game changer. Constructed with a stainless steel interior and a BPA-free leakproof lid, its high-quality design makes it easy to fix a protein shake in a hurry. The agitator makes it much easier to incorporate powder, but since it's also removable, you can enjoy your protein shake without hearing it rattle around in the bottle with every sip.
Plus, this shaker bottle is designed to keep ice frozen for more than 30 hours, making it a great choice for mom to pack for work or a long hike. While $44.99 is a bit costly for a water bottle, between the warranty and the sturdy construction, we think it’s a gift that mom can use and enjoy for years to come.
- Dishwasher safe
- Limited lifetime warranty
- BPA free
- Removable shaker attachment for mixing protein or greens powder
- Durable design
- Keeps ice frozen for over 24 hours
- Higher price point for a shaker bottle
- May not be worth it to those who don’t regularly use a water or shaker bottle
Best Technology Gifts for Mom
Tempo Move Home Gym
You may recognize Tempo as the premier tech device in the fitness space right now. Tempo makes interactive home gyms that offer the experience of working out in a gym or with a trainer, but from the comfort and convenience of your own home. We're recommending the Tempo Move, which is their pared-down home gym option, and a fantastic option for busy moms or those who work from home. The Tempo Move is designed to play video workout sessions on your TV, with your iPhone displayed to observe your form and offer AI-based corrections and feedback. It includes a set of weights, a storage cabinet, and the Tempo Core device which holds your phone during workouts. Sync the device with mom's Apple Watch for an extra level of detailed feedback during a workout.
The Tempo Move offers one of the most compact sets of weights we've seen, and we love how the AI technology tracks your reps—all the benefits of weightlifting without the hassle of counting reps. However, the one drawback for some may be the cost. The monthly membership required to operate the Tempo Move is $39/month, and it isn't included in the price of the device. You could give mom a year of membership with purchase, but at some point she’d presumably be responsible for the monthly cost of this rather pricey service.
- Smart AI corrects your weightlifting form
- Tons of workout options in a variety of specialties
- Customized training recommendations
- Real-time rep counting
- iPhone required (not compatible with Android phones)
- Expensive (device and ongoing membership)
Hypervolt 2 Percussion Massage Gun
Hyperice sells devices to help athletes of all levels optimize their workout recovery. And while the Hypervolt 2 Percussion Massage Gun offers the most benefits to someone looking to release post-workout knots and aches, it can help nearly anyone with symptoms of soreness and tightness. The Hypervolt 2 includes five different interchangeable heads for the massage gun, a charging station, and adapters. It's also Bluetooth compatible, which allows you to easily adjust the vibration level from your phone.
Even if the mom in your life doesn't experience soreness post-workout, this massage gun could make a difference in daily aches like back or neck pain. Some use it to warm up their muscles, which is key in preventing injury and muscle tightness. Gifting mom the Hypervolt 2 is like giving her a massage therapy voucher—except she can use this one over and over for years on end.
- 3-hour battery life
- 5 head attachments
- Bluetooth compatible
- Sleek and compact design
- Great for muscle soreness
- Just 3 vibration levels (compare to Hypervolt 2 Pro)
- Carrying case not included
- Higher price point than other options on this list
WHOOP Fitness Tracking Device
Does your mom own an Apple Watch, a FitBit, or other fitness wearable? If not, consider the WHOOP device. Ideal for runners, cyclists, weightlifters, or anyone who regularly participates in physical activity, the WHOOP continuously monitors vital signs and health information to provide you with a detailed review of your sleep and physical activity. Unlike other fitness trackers, WHOOP includes a recovery component, monitoring optimal times for you to perform physical activity based on how well your body has recovered. The device evaluates your heart rate variability (HRV) and resting heart rate to provide you with tailored fitness and recovery recommendations. It does this by syncing to a corresponding app via Bluetooth, where you can monitor your health information or manually input other tracking data like diet and stress levels.
The WHOOP is designed to offer some of the same health feedback tracked by devices like FitBit and the Apple Watch, but without the distracting display screen. It looks just like a fabric bracelet, and though it tracks your health information continuously, it doesn't have a display surface. To access that information, you have to check the synced app on your smartphone. But for the health and lifestyle monitoring benefits without the bulky, noticeable profile of a smart watch, we recommend the WHOOP fitness tracker.
- Water resistant
- Tons of band colors and designs
- WHOOP 4.0 device included in this deal
- Engraving options
- Great for active moms
- No display screen (not a watch)
Bose QuietComfort Noise Canceling Earbuds
If your mom works in a busy office, frequents a crowded gym, or simply enjoys listening to podcasts or music while on runs or hikes, a pair of high-quality noise canceling headphones may be just the gift for her. Noise canceling earbuds help you block out outside noise, allowing you to completely focus on your training, work calls, or other listening activity. And Bose offers some of the best options, thanks to their unbeatable sound quality and comfortable designs. These earbuds come with interchangeable silicone ear tips so she can find the perfect secure fit for her ears.
The QuietComfort active noise canceling is powerful enough to keep out the ambient noise of a busy gym without compromising the sound quality of your music. We also love the Aware Mode option, which lets you listen while allowing some ambient noise through. This is a huge plus for safety, whether mom is running on a busy street or walking through a crowded airport. If there's one drawback to these earbuds it’s the cost. At $279, these earbuds are a bit of an investment. But for a high-quality set of earbuds with great sound quality and a useful safety mode, these are a top choice.
- Active noise canceling and aware mode options
- Comfortable silicone ear insert
- Excellent sound quality
- Bluetooth range up to 30 feet
- Sweat and water resistant
- Substandard microphone
- In-ear fit doesn’t work for everyone
Fitness Accessories for Mom
Therabody Wave Roller
Most athletes and active individuals have tried a foam roller to reduce muscle soreness and aid in recovery. Foam rollers can be immensely helpful for relieving myofascial pain, loosening tight muscles, relieving lactic acid buildup, and staying flexible. And recovery brand Therabody is known for making top-notch foam rollers. The Therabody Wave Roller in particular stands out from other rollers in one key way: It vibrates. The Wave Roller connects to your phone and the Therabody app via Bluetooth, allowing you to conveniently control the roller's five vibration settings as you use it. The vibration combined with the unique wavy texture of the foam roller help this device reach even the deepest muscular aches and pains.
If your mom enjoys heavy weightlifting, CrossFit classes, or long runs, she could definitely benefit from using a foam roller to work out soreness and pain.
- Bluetooth connectivity
- 12" size should work for most
- Vibrations provide deep recovery
- 5 vibration settings
- Pairs with Therabody app
- Might be too small for some
- Slippery foam texture
Gaiam Premium Point Yoga Mat
For yogis, a mat is an essential piece of equipment in your toolkit. So if your mom has always wanted to try yoga, or is already a frequent practitioner of the soothing exercise, a new yoga mat is a sweet addition to their collection. And Gaiam is known for their reliable and functional yoga equipment. We love how the Gaiam Premium Point yoga mat is latex-free and nontoxic, plus it comes in different colors so you can choose what suits your mom the best.
We also like how this mat has a solid grip, great for hot yoga or outdoor yoga classes. Plus, it comes with mat wipes, helping you keep the mat clean and sanitary.
- Good grip
- Color and design options to choose from
- Includes free mat wipes with purchase
- Latex-free and nontoxic
- Comes with an online library of yoga content
- Some may prefer a mat thicker than 5mm
Lululemon On My Level 2.0 19L Bag
Most of us know Lululemon as an upscale fitness clothing brand, but they also make chic accessories. One fan favorite is the On My Level—a large storage tote with internal compartments and an adjustable strap. Great for moms on the go, it can be worn over the shoulder or across the body. A generous depth of 19L of storage space is enough to hold a tablet or small laptop as well as everyday essentials like a notebook, phone, keys, and cosmetic bags.
We also like how this bag comes with an internal pocket for storing a reusable water bottle. If mom is looking for a large, sturdy tote bag that can double as a gym and work bag, this versatile piece is a great gift option.
- Inner compartments
- 19L of storage
- Wear it crossbody or over the shoulder
- Interior water bottle storage
- Great for travel
- Spot clean only
- Black interior makes finding things difficult
Tangram Factory Smart Jump Rope
We all know cardio is good for us, but for those who perform weightlifting, yoga, or tai chi, incorporating cardio into your routine may feel like a chore. Jumping rope offers a quick, easy way to get in cardio without walking miles on a treadmill. And this Tangram Factory Smart Jump Rope makes tracking jump rope workouts easier than ever. Its smart technology tracks your reps and reports them to its compatible app via Bluetooth connection—no more keeping count of reps in your head.
It's available in both black and chrome, as well as three different sizes (lengths) based on your height. Jumping rope also builds bone density, which is critical for women in preventing osteoporosis especially as they age.
- Syncs with your phone
- Tracks your reps for you
- Available in multiple lengths and colors
- Interior water bottle storage
- Great way to up your cardio
- Delicate use required
- Takes some practice if you’ve never jumped rope before
Clothing Gifts for Mom
Lululemon Hooded Define Jacket Nulu
Giving clothing as a gift can be tricky, even if you know the recipient's taste well. But if the mom in your life is a fan of anything fitness-oriented, chances are high she'll be thrilled to receive a gift from high-end fitness brand Lululemon. We've already mentioned their On My Level 2.0 19L bag as a great option for moms who need a tote big enough to take them from the gym to the office and beyond, but the Hooded Define Jacket may be even more versatile. Its slim-fitting silhouette and light fabric make for a much more flattering look than most post or pre-workout hoodies. And Lululemon’s incredibly soft Nulu fabric delivers on comfort, too. We love the array of colors and prints available for this jacket, which offers something for every style profile.
Plus, this jacket is available in a variety of sizes, ranging from size 0 to size 20. As with any Lululemon item, the cost will be a downside for many buyers. But this is one garment where its performance matches its price. The full zip hoodie shape and flattering feminine cut make it wearable in many settings. Keep in mind that its close fit means that it may run small for some, so you may want to order a size up.
- Soft, stretchy Nulu fabric
- Large, comfy hood
- Variety of color and print options
- Flattering slim fit
- Light enough for year-round wear
- Higher cost
- Fabric may pill if not careful
Adidas Own the Run Windbreaker
For runners who exercise outdoors, wind and rain can do some damage to time, performance, and even just our ability to exercise in tough conditions. Having the right gear is critical to staying warm, dry, and comfortable. We love this Adidas Own the Run Windbreaker for the Mom who enjoys hiking, outdoor running, and beach walks. As a windbreaker, it won’t be the warmest jacket in her wardrobe. It's not fleece lined, but it's made to be both wind- and water-resistant. Wearing this windbreaker can make exercising in difficult conditions much more tolerable. We also like the relaxed fit, which lets you move easily without feeling restricted or overly layered up. It's also environmentally friendly thanks to the recycled materials used in the jacket's design.
Keep in mind that this jacket's lightweight feel means that it won't be perfect for every climate or all year, though it should make all the difference during those cool and unpredictable transition months. And at just $56, the Own the Run Windbreaker is a steal considering its higher quality.
- Hood with adjustable drawcord
- Full collar
- Made with 100% recycled materials
- Relaxed fit
- Reflective details
- Great for runners or cyclists
- Not warm enough for cooler months
- Not waterproof, just water resistant
Athleta Pranayama Wrap
Athleta is a luxury athleisure brand known for making clothes and accessories that are comfortable, functional, sustainable, and made to last. The Pranayama Wrap is one of Athleta's most popular items, and with good reason. This drapey, soft wrap is light enough to wear on a cool summer night, and substantial enough to keep you warm when you layer up in the winter. Its chic silhouette looks perfect with leggings or other slim-fit pants. And for moms on the go, the comfortable knit is suitable for yoga class but looks nice enough to replace your blazer for a business-casual outfit.
Plus, its versatility makes it easy to combine with a number of pieces: Pair it with a pair of joggers for maximum comfort. With its relaxed fit and sizing from XXS to 3X, this upscale cardigan is a great gift for the stylish mom in your life.
- Available in a wide array of colors, including seasonal color options
- Inclusive sizing
- Sustainably made
- Dress up or down
- Fabric shows wash wear
Alo Seamless Ribbed Bra & High Waist Legging Set
One of the top trends in athleisure over the last few years is matching sets. This trend is easy to wear and accessible, not to mention a great way to introduce versatile pieces into your workout wardrobe. Mom will love this Alo set that combines two of their Seamless Ribbed favorites: a ribbed bra and a ribbed high waist legging. The high waisted legging is great for tummy control—supportive without being too restrictive for exercise. And because the pieces match perfectly, all you need is a tank top or jacket to throw over the bra for a complete look. We think seamless garments are ideal for athleisure, because bulky seams can be uncomfortable or sometimes even painful during an intense workout.
This ribbed sports bra & legging set is comfortable, versatile, and cute. Alo offers many other bras, tops, and bottoms in these same colors, so if Mom wants to build out a collection around this set, that’s an option, too.
- Supportive ribbed fabric
- Compressive leggings
- Mix and match with other Alo sets
- Seamless for comfort
- Just 2 colors for full set
Best Shoes for Mom
Saucony Echelon 8
The Saucony Echelon 8 is a beloved shoe in the world of running. It brings a great combination of stability, support, cushioning, and bounce. These are all necessary ingredients for a comfortable and functional running shoe, but it can be tough to find a model that combines them well. For us, this is that shoe. Available in four different colors and in sizes 5-12, most women should be able to find a size that fits in this model. We like that these come in a wider option as well. The Echelon 8 has a relatively low (8mm) drop in height from heel to toe, which can help with a sense of security and balance.
However, the one feature we really love is Saucony's PWRRUN cushioning: It makes every step soft and comfortable without giving up the neutral arch support or a natural bounce from the ground. Unfortunately, this isn't the coolest looking running shoe you’ll ever see. It's only available in four colors and its visible chunky midsole doesn’t add anything to the design. But running shoes are, first and foremost, practical, and it's tough to beat the Echelon 8 on comfort and functionality.
- Wide fit available
- Low drop (8mm)
- Springy, comfortable cushioning
- Neutral support that works for most
- Limited color choices
HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8
The HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8 running shoe is also called an 'everyday training' shoe, and we can see why. This shoe is comfortable enough to run in every day. We love how light they are, especially for a training shoe with moderate cushioning. Racing shoes are sometimes that light, but these manage to combine that low weight profile with a comfortable trainer and a low heel-to-toe drop. The knit upper is lightweight and breathable, but it doesn't sacrifice on ankle support either.
One thing we love about HOKA is their exchange/refund policy. You can wear their shoes for up to 30 days and if you're not satisfied, you can return or exchange them for a different pair. It can be tricky to gift running shoes, especially if you're not 100-percent certain which model mom might like best. So the extra peace of mind with HOKA's generous return policy is a big plus.
- Plenty of color combinations
- Sizes 5-12, regular and wide widths
- Super lightweight (7.2 oz)
- Low drop (5 mm)
- Breathable upper
- Generous 30 day exchange or refund policy
- Durability concerns, especially with regard to the thin breathable upper
- High heel pull may aggravate some
Adidas Cloudfoam Pure
The other shoes we've shared are intended primarily for running. And while you absolutely can run in the Adidas Cloudfoam Pure shoes, we think these are really best suited for walking or jogging. The foam is mostly concentrated in the heel region, so forefoot strikers would find these uncomfortable to run in. They also don't have the best traction on the soles, and the traction that's there tends to wear down pretty quickly. But, here's the redeeming factor: The Adidas Cloudfoam feels weightless and cloud-like (hence the name) on the feet. These shoes deliver a soft, cushioning sensation to each stride.
If mom requires a lot of ankle or arch support, this probably isn’t the pair for her. But for a comfortable shoe that she’ll be able to walk and jog in for many many miles, the Adidas Cloudfoam Pure is tough to beat.
- Super comfortable cushioning
- Stylish streetwear design
- Sock-like upper fit
- Sole traction lacking
- Foam does compress after a certain amount of use
Under Armour Charged Assert 9
If you're looking for a shoe for mom that has lots of support, we recommend the Under Armour Charged Assert 9. Whether she has fallen arches and needs the support, or a previous ankle injury that requires extra ankle support, these shoes may be helpful to those looking for more support. They still have enough cushioning to provide for comfortable walks and runs, but they generally provide more stability than cushioning.
We like the shock absorbing features built into the sole and midsole, which is especially helpful if your mom is an older runner or walker. Shoes that diffuse some of the shock of running or walking on concrete or asphalt can be crucial in mitigating pain and soreness.
- Chunky, retro-inspired style
- Shock absorbing features make runs easier on the joints
- Solid ankle support
- Noisy (squeaks when walks)
- Might feel stiff to some
We hope there's something on this list that appeals to the mom in your life. From cooking gifts to the latest fitness technology—and everything in between—there's a gift on this Mother's Day guide for everyone. Happy shopping!
