We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Friday, September 17, 2021.
Let’s bring out the champion that exists inside all kids and adults through the Olympic sport and art of fencing! In a fun yet challenging way, new students will be introduced to the sport of fencing while experienced students will continue to refine their skills. The beginning class will focus on basic footwork, how to defend/attack, fencing rules and respect and discipline. The intermediate class will continue these same concepts, but at an advanced level. The intermediate class will also focus on what it takes to become a competitive fencer. Close-toed shoes and pants that cover the entire leg are required (yoga or sweatpants are best). Required equipment: mask, jacket, glove, chest protector and weapon. Some equipment is available to borrow; students must have their own equipment after 2 months. No exceptions. PV Rec Center, 2320 North Ave (next to Bidwell Jr. High). Instructor: Kalista Vera, 3-time Jr. Olympic participant. No classes Thanksgiving week.
