Instructor: Mona Wargo----To quote a prior student, "This is one of the best in-person COVID activities you can do." Nikki J. Painting and design techniques, such as sponging, marbling, dry brushing and stenciling, etc., are invaluable when working on a set. But they can also save you money when adapted for home use. As well as gaining a thorough understanding of procedures and techniques, hands-on demonstrations will provide an opportunity for participants to practice their skill sets. Other topics include blending of colors, dutching, taping and seaming, types of paints and finishes and set development from inception to completion. Theatre protocols and fire codes are also covered and participants will enjoy a mid-session backstage tour of the Greater DC's oldest theatre. At the end of the course, participants will bring home their personal pallets of work. All materials and supplies will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. Participants must be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. During class time, masks will be required as well as social distancing. Temperatures will be taken upon arrival to each session.
