The Wauconda Park District is getting ready for Phil?s Beach in the summer of 2020 we are looking to train and hire confident, responsible young adults to patrol our beaches and keep our swimmers safe in and around the water. New this year we will be offering lifeguard training classes several times this year. This course provides full certification upon successful completion.
This training class will provide entry-level lifeguard candidates with the skills and knowledge necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies, and to provide care for injuries and sudden illness until advanced medical personnel arrive. This is a certification course. Criteria that students must be able to swim 500 yards continuously demonstrating front crawl and breaststroke, swim and retrieve a brick from the bottom of the deep end and tread water for two minutes. Students will be certified in standard first aid, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and lifeguarding skills through the American Red Cross. ALL classes must be attended for the duration of the class. Completion of the class does NOT guarantee employment with the Wauconda Park District. If you are employed with the Wauconda Park District and you work through the season your registration numbers will be refunded.
