The Kopernik Observatory & Science Center is teaming up with NASA to present the next program in the Girl Power series. “Artemis- First Women on the Moon” will challenge girls in grades 3-8 to understand the elements of the universe and how they interact. Girl Power is for girls who are motivated to learn more about the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Each Girl Power program includes a chat with a female scientist or engineer to discuss how she chose her career, how she trained for it, and what she does in her job With the Artemis program, NASA will land the first woman and next man on the Moon in this decade, using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before and establish sustainable exploration. Then, we will use what we learn on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap – sending astronauts to Mars. Girl Power Girls will learn what it will take to get to the Moon and make a “home away from home – a lunar she-shed”. They will even take a “field trip” to the moon. Girl Power is supported by: American Association of University Women of New York.
