While the community centre is closed for normal programming we are still working with our community to provide essential services to our most vulnerable residents.
The Britannia Child Care is open for Essential service personnel and at risk children, together with Grandview Terrace Child Care we provide up to 25 licensed spaces for children aged 5-12. We are also reaching out to our seniors through social media and regular contact by phone to ensure that they are emotionally and physically safe during this period that that Ministry of Health have directed vulnerable citizens to self-isolation.
In the past three weeks our staff and volunteers have reached 1,400 seniors. Some of whom will be receiving regular health check calls during these trying times.
In partnership with the Grandview Woodland Food Connection we have established the ‘Crisis Food Store’ to deliver food hampers to residents of East Vancouver who may not be able to shop for themselves or to afford groceries during this pandemic. Each day volunteers process and distribute up to 800lbs of food to people in our neighbourhoods.
Your contribution will ensure that we can continue this work. Your contribution will go towards; Stocking the Crisis Food Store, these funds will be used to buy health fresh food for food hampers, and; Bridging the technology gap, these funds will be used to purchase phones and data to help vulnerable residents communicate with their friends, family and schools.
