The purpose of the Ethical Decisions class is to introduce students to ethical theories and to help him to identify his own ethical system. The class is broken in to two parts: foundational ethics and applications. In the former half we look at various systems and theories of ethics and in the latter half the student identifies his own system and applies his principles to various dilemmas. The case studies and applications for each unit are driven by current events and by student interest. Guest speakers are also selected based on student interest and projected career interest. This class can be taught as an in person, online, or hybrid class in consideration of our current pandemic response. There will be optional service learning or volunteering opportunities associated with the class and this class fulfills the requirements for a senior theology course during the academic year. The course is open to rising juniors and seniors. Interested students with questions should contact Ms. Allison Harmon at aharmon@loyolablakefield.org.
