Trompe-l’oeil and Transfers Yes, that really is made of clay! Dive into the world of trompe-l'oeil ceramics, an art technique that intentionally deceives the eye. Internationally renowned artist, Tim Kowalczyk, is known for creating functional and sculptural ceramics that look like they're made from everyday materials - think cardboard, tin cans, styrofoam, fire extinguishers and even garbage. In this workshop, Tim will guide students through his iconic "cardboard" construction as well as image transfer techniques using underglaze and silk screening methods. Students can expect to come away from the class with a ceramic "cardboard" plate featuring a two-color underglaze transfer.
