Course Description: Equity in Independent Schools In this one-of-a-kind, research-driven course, students will explore the inequities that exist in independent schools and will use action research methodology to understand how we might make change within our own community. The course will be divided into three distinct stages: How did we get here? Where are we now? What steps can we take? These stages correspond with the first three steps in the cycle of action research: the first stage will help students to identify the problem; the second stage will involve gathering data; the third stage will require students to interpret the data and propose action. The course will culminate in a presentation of our findings to the Director of the Summer Institute, along with other faculty members and administrators
