This workshop provides students an opportunity to apply analysis skills learned in class to a wide range of repertoire, either student- or instructor-selected. We will all get to appreciate excellent music together as a group. All students will see how composers through the ages use principles of dissonance and resolution of dissonance to create musical meaning. In addition to studying repertoire, there will also be a chance to discuss four-part writing following the classical rules of voice-leading. Students will have breakout sessions in small groups, and the opportunity to present a final project at the end of the semester.
Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1 or 2 of Musicianship and Music Theory, or contact Harry Whitney at email@example.com to see if this class would be a good fit for you.
Classes will be held online
