Beat your own Beast in your neighborhood, your favorite park – anywhere you can take on the physical challenges of this fun new event!

Whether you’re an elite athlete or enjoy a slow stroll around the neighborhood, it’s all your race at your pace. Go alone or while socially distancing with your family, friends or teammates!

Overview

Yes, these are tough times. But Beast participants are tougher. They fight to be their best. That might mean achieving their fitness goals, going outside of their comfort zones to tackle new challenges, or supporting services for persons with disabilities at the Barber National Institute. So the commitment to Beat the Beast – whatever that is – remains the same.

While we aren’t physically getting together for a big in-person event just yet, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of the spring sunshine while training for the in-person event in September. This will be a race day customized to your schedule. Participants can take part in the virtual 5K anytime between noon on Friday, May 21 and midnight EST on Monday, May 24, 2021.

With registration, you will receive:

Awesome 2021 finisher shirt complete with our Beast on the Block logo

Participant bib PDF to print and pin on for those virtual 5k selfies
Collectible 2021 race magnet for your car, fridge or work-from-home filing cabinet

And best of all, you will know that you are helping individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities or behavioral health challenges live more productive and fulfilling lives.

Why we’re counting on you!

The Barber National Institute has experienced extraordinary unbudgeted costs that include personal protective equipment, disinfecting supplies and computer equipment and software to deliver telehealth services. We are also meeting increased staffing needs as we provide around-the-clock care for residents in our 95 group homes, and meet the demands to provide remote early intervention therapies for babies and behavioral health services for children, adults and families.

Your support for Barber Beast on the Block will help ensure that our essential services to our most vulnerable populations continue at a time when they are needed most.

Can you Beat the Beast?

Fitness isn’t a one-size-fit-all thing, and neither is the Beast. You may not be able to make a lot of choices about what you are doing right now, but you can choose to do the Beast your way. And just think, you will be making the world a better place for children and adults with disabilities to overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals, too.

We cannot offer refunds under any circumstances. If a registrant cannot participate, their fee is considered a charitable donation to the Barber Foundation .
