Weekend of Restoration XXIII: Looking at Wilderness
Lost Valley Visitor Center Route 31 & Harts Road Ringwood, IL 60071 Organized by McHenry County Conservation DistrictAbout this event
Description
We're sorry, but this program is over. The last meeting was Sunday, October 8, 2023.
Did you ever dream of going to the wilderness? Well this fall, you can join us for a trip to the wilds of McHenry County. We are meeting at a site near Alden, IL to continue the stream restoration work we began last fall. We will also plant oak trees and native shrubs on the nearby hills. Hold on! Is this a real wilderness? What is a wilderness anyway? Can you make a wilderness, or is it something that was always there? Maybe there really aren’t any wildernesses? This beautiful, and sometimes puzzling and controversial idea has been at the center of Conservation from the very beginning, and this fall we will spend a weekend thinking about the wilderness, talking about it, and maybe singing about it. Come join us to build stream riffles, plant trees, sing songs, and discuss what streams mean to all of us. We will spend most of our time outdoors, so come dressed for the weather. Your registration fee includes lunch and supper on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning. Camping on site is free for this event only! Join us this weekend and make a difference!
