U.S. Military History Camp 2020 Discover how America is the Land of the Free because it was first the Home of the Brave! Enjoy a week of storied military history by visiting the battlefields, barracks, and museums that commemorate America's history of service and valor. Here is our itinerary: Monday- Tour the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, VA. All exhibits designed as immersive experiences involving sights/sounds/motion/temperature changes. We will view "We, The Marines" on the state-of-the-art giant-screen, plus experience the M-16 Laser Simulated Rifle Range. Tuesday- Tour the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum at the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. We will focus our attention on WWI, WWII, and Cold War Aviation Exhibits, while also taking in a 3D I-Max movie, "D-Day: Normandy 1944". Wednesday- Tour Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, MD. This impressive star-shaped fort is the home of the valiant defense in the War of 1812. Learn how Francis Scott Key was inspired to write our national anthem during the bombardment. Ranger-led tour of the ramparts, barracks, and the exhibit and movie in the visitor center. Thursday- Tour Antietam National Battlefield in Sharpsburg, MD. Ranger-led tour of the battlefield and learn how Antietam was one of the bloodiest battles in our nation's history. We will visit Bloody Lane, Burnside Bridge, and Dunker Church, as well as the museum and visitor center, where we will take in an informative documentary film. Friday- Tour of the United States Naval Academy in Md., where we will enjoy a professional tour of the barracks and campus as well as the Crypt of John Paul Jones and the U.S. Naval Museum. In the afternoon we will head to DC for dinner and finish off our week by taking in the Evening Parade (8:45-10:00 PM) at Marine Barracks Washington DC (8th and I St.), Campers' families can join us at the parade or pick up their sons at 10:30 at The Heights.
