Required for Portland Parks and Recreation Water Exercise Instructors. Students successfully completing the training program receive Water Fitness Instructor Certification. Prerequisites: Age 17 or older by the first day of class. Should have experienced at least 20 Water Fitness Classes before the first training date.
**This class could be subject to change depending on OHA COVID-19 Guidelines. We will keep you informed if things change. ** Water Fitness Instructor Training will take place at Mt. Scott Community Center and Pool. There will be both on-deck and in-pool sessions for each class setting. Participants will need to dress for being in the pool environment the whole class time: prepare for hot and humid, or breezy and chilly when wet, wearing swim attire under sweats or shorts (outer dress as if attending a land aerobic class, including supportive footwear.) Please bring to each session: water and deck attire, towels, water bottle with water, light snacks, face coverings, pen or pencil and highlighters, as well as supportive footwear for wearing in the pool (water shoes, aqua slippers, or designated pool only shoes.) No person shall be permitted entry to class if any of the following signs or symptoms were present in the last 72 hours: temperature greater than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, close contact with person with any of the above symptoms or known COVID-19.
