Training DescriptionThis training will focus on creating a deeper understanding of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as cover psychotherapeutic approaches and techniques. This training will include presentation of the topics as well as group analysis and discussion of case studies. The impact of race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status will be woven into the training to help providers bring greater depth to the treatment they provide. This training can be used toward the CE hours required to attain a Childbearing Years: Working with Women and Families during the Perinatal Period non-degree certificate. 15 hours of total training must be completed to attain a certificate.
Training Objectives:
Participants will:
  1. Identify and differentiate between various perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
  2. Identify psychotherapeutic techniques that can be used to treat perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
  3. Assess prenatal and postpartum risk factors
  4. Assess level of treatment appropriate for clients
  5. Identify impact of race, gender, sexual orientation and SES on perinatal mental health
