This course will explore how mindfulness and various contemplative techniques such as yoga can enhance the fundamental and ethical challenges of contemporary life: reduce stress, anxiety, increase awareness. The course will also investigate the neurological characteristics of stress: how it is developed, and progress to disease. Class sessions will involve practice in mindfulness meditation, Hatha Yoga, mental imagery, body awareness scanning, self-talk, walking meditation, and deep breathing techniques. Participants will maintain and reflect on a daily mindfulness meditation practice for the duration of the course. This is a no contact program.

Refunds - For refundable programs, refund requests made prior to the start date of a program will be given less a 5% refund fee. Cancellations made by Recreation, Parks & Community Health are not subject to the 5% refund fee. Online registration processing fees are non-refundable. Refunds may be processed as a household credit or a check through the Village of Park Forest Finance Department. Please allow 10 business days for refund by check.
