"Join us for a week of on-the-water fun! Students will get to explore Budd Inlet while learning the basics of sailing and investigate STEAM topics. Content will emphasize mechanics and engineering, seeking to answer questions like: How do boats float? How do sailboats sail upwind? How is wind used as power? Sailors will get to contribute to a citizen science program!" Partnership: Estuarium (ROVs) Citizen Science: Plastic Monitoring Activity Activities: Charts/Navigation, Mechanical Advantage (Pulleys), Design a Ship, Measuring Wind, Buoyancy, Wind Power, Plastics Density, If possible… Wet Science Center (Water &; Energy program) Surfrider Partnership (needs beachable boats)
