American Red Cross Lifeguarding Courses teach participants how to be professional, responsible lifeguards and how to prevent and respond to aquatic and first aid emergencies. This course is a hybrid, “Blended Learning” course and requires participants to complete 7 hours of online content prior to the first in-person day of the course. Access to the content will be emailed to the participant of the course 14 days prior to the first in person day of the course. Please be sure that the email listed belongs to the participant (a non-school email address), not the parent of the participant. Failure to complete the online content by the deadline provided in the course syllabus will result in a non-refundable course withdraw. Participants are required to complete a pre-requisite swim test on the first day of the course including a 300-yard swim using freestyle and backstroke, a surface dive to a depth of 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object and swim in under 1 minute 40 seconds, and a timed deep-water tread.
