As local school districts continue remote learning, staff at the Crews Recreation Center (1201 Crews Road, Matthews, NC 28105; directly behind the Matthews Police Department) designed a school day program for youth 5 to 12 years old. The program will be offered Monday-Friday (excluding holidays and teacher workdays) from 8:00am to 3:30pm. In addition to providing dedicated time for remote learning and facilitators to assist, the program will also consist of enrichment, social recreation and gym activities. However, we will strive for all participants to complete 100% of their remote learning requirements prior to engaging in other activities.
On a daily basis, participants will need to bring the following: 1.) electronic device and charger for remote learning (i.e. tablet or laptop), 2.) headphones, 3.) 2 nut-free snacks, 4.) a nut-free lunch and 5.) a refillable water bottle. Healthy snacks and drinks are also available in vending machines on-site.
Discounted rates are available for siblings and students that qualify for free/reduced lunch. Additionally, a limited number of scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Charles Smith for additional details:
