Bedrock is a bridge year (gap year) program for young adults of college age. It is a space where you can open up your curiosity, push your edges, learn new and ancient arts, and explore in community. In the program there is space for naturalist knowledge, survival skills, woodland skills, thriving skills, healing arts, home creating arts, ancient technologies, philosophies, storytelling, wood/stone/bone/clay crafting, weaving, community building, and playing in the woods. Bring your skills, your questions, your wanderings and wonderings; this is part of the long journey. This program will go beyond the general scope of wilderness skills into the realm of sustainable living skills and even into mythic thought. In the spring there will be a three day solo experience, (regulations allowing), which we will slowly prepare for throughout the year. Homework of academic, physical skill and/or artistic natures will be available for those who wish it. Skills include: Fire building Shelter building How to move to the woods Weaving Carving Wild foods and medicines Open fire cooking Flora and fauna ID Landscape awareness Outdoor leadership Storytelling Ages: 18-24 Please see website for exact dates.
