Spend a full day immersed in coding, robotics, and city-building at our Minecraft New Jax City Builders Competition & LEGO Coding & Robotics Lab! In the morning, students will take on the role of digital urban planners in the Minecraft Education New Jax City Builders Competition, a city-wide challenge hosted by the City of Jacksonville. Working in small teams, participants will design and build their vision for the future of Jacksonville, combining creativity, civic engagement, and block-based coding to develop innovative urban solutions. As part of the competition, students will have the chance to: Collaborate on infrastructure and city design Learn about real-world urban planning concepts Develop skills in digital literacy, critical thinking, and teamwork Submit their build for a chance to advance to the Mayor’s Cup, a live Esports-style finale judged by city leaders and experts In the afternoon, students will shift gears to explore the world of LEGO Robotics. They’ll build and program their own robots using LEGO Education kits, applying mechanical engineering concepts like gears, pulleys, and axles. Through block-based programming, they'll bring their creations to life, tackling engaging challenges that promote logic, precision, and creativity. With a focus on hands-on learning, creativity, and collaboration, this full-day program is ideal for aspiring engineers, coders, and future city-shapers.
