The goal of the Natural Hair Care Program is to spark youth’s interest in considering cosmetology as a future career. This entry-level, 4-week course is targeted at youth who are interested in learning about textured hair. Throughout this program, scholars will learn the history and heritage of kinky/curly hair, different curl patterns, hair hygiene and proper sanitation, easy at-home styles, and haircare, as well as popular styles to service their friends/family in the community. The course will also cover branding, business management, customer service, and business ethics/etiquette. Upon completion of this program, scholars will receive a certification of completion and hands-on skills cosmetology training.
