About this event
This virtual class will focus on stenciling and monoprint techniques. Participants, led by digital printmaker and painter Ric Garcia, will learn how to make colorful prints using a three layer stenciling method from personal photos. In this class participants will learn what photos will make a good stencil and how to create a stencil from it by hand. Creating base art for a stencil with computer software will be discussed. Color theory and themes will be discussed. An unusual monoprinting method will be explored using non-traditional materials. Ric Garcia has exhibited throughout the DC metro area. His work builds on the traditions of pop art and is infused with references to various cultures in America. These references are a meditation about identity rather than a cultural primer. Garcia’s perennial favorite is Latino culture and it’s consumer branded products. Materials list and Zoom Link will be emailed upon registration.
