Fire cider is a very traditional New England remedy and preventative medicine. It is a spicy remedy that will warm you on a cold day. A shot of fire cider is a decongestant, anti-microbial, an immune stimulant and gets your blood moving. Apple cider and honey are ingredients traditional to New England. Add some garlic, onions, ginger and horseradish and you have something very tasty to boost health and add flavor to salads, stir fries and veggies. During class we'll learn the interesting history of vinegar and honey remedies, then taste and make fire cider. Take home recipes and a sample of fire cider. Participants bring their own implements (grater, cutting board, knife to cut onions and garlic, a vegetable peeler and a measuring cup). We will give you an individual ingredient kit. Everyone participating in Beaver Brook programs must follow these guidelines: 1. Everyone must meet with a face mask. his will be worn when meeting in a circle but may be removed during hiking. 2. Space yourself 6' from others. Try to walk single file. 3. Leader will have handwipes and sanitizer. 4. Participants must read and answer a COVID questionnaire prior to class.
