Busy parents need to unwind after a stressful day, and a yoga class is a terrific way to do that. There are many options for yoga classes—but if you have to rush home to take care of a family, you may find it hard to make time for a yoga class.
If pressed you're for time, try these three restorative yoga poses you can do at home. Your kids can do them right along with you.
Legs Up the Wall Pose
This position calms the mind and is an extremely gentle stretch for the back of the legs. Lie on the floor with your hips up against a wall. Swing your legs up onto the wall so your buttocks are against the wall and your legs are up the wall. Place your hands in a comfortable position, such as on your stomach or relaxed on the floor. Rock your head from side to side to lessen any tension in your neck and get your head into a comfortable spot. Stay in this position for five minutes.
Bound Angle Pose
This is a restorative stretch for the inner thighs and groin, and is thought to ease fatigue. The gentlest way to do this pose is to start by sitting on the edge of a pillow on the floor. Place the soles of your feet together, knees comfortably dropping out to the sides. Place your hands on your ankles or the tops of your feet. Release your knees naturally toward the floor—do not press them or force them. Stay in this pose for three minutes.

This pose will help clear the mind, and gently stretches the hips, ankles and thighs. Kneel on the floor and sit on your heels. Your knees should be a comfortable distance apart. Lay your upper body over your thighs, place your forehead to the ground and stretch your arms out in front of you, palms face down. If your forehead does not comfortably reach the ground, you can stack your fists and place your forehead on them. Another variation that is even more relaxing for the shoulders is to place your arms on the floor alongside your torso, so your hands are palm-up back by your feet. Stay in this pose for three minutes.
