Explore the art of hand-sewing in this creative and practical class. Learn skills that can be used to embellish and repair clothing as well as make works of textile art. You will learn embroidery, patchwork, mending and darning skills and how to sew on a button. You will also be introduced to the work of contemporary and historical textile artists. Supplies included.
What’s included in your kit: -variety of fabrics -Pins and needles -Assorted thread -Miscellaneous sewing notions including buttons and templates
Optional Materials (not included in the kit): -Thimble -Small pieces of quilting cottons in colours and patterns you like -Additional embroidery floss in your favourite colours (DMC brand or similar quality recommended) -Tape measure
What you need at home: -Scissors (sharp enough to cut fabric) -Pencil -A large, flat surface to work on, at least 3’ x 2’ -Good lighting
