This program is only open to approved Howard County Recreation and Parks managed hunt participants and is not open to the general public.

As authorized by Section 19.209(g)(1) of the Howard County Code, and as approved by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks (HCDRP) will conduct a managed hunt (Firearms only) for the express purpose of reducing the deer population. This is not a recreational program but rather a wildlife management tool, currently registration is only open to previously approved hunters. New hunters must first gain approval through an interview process before being able to register with the program. New hunters who would like to be included into the program must first contact the county’s deer program manager to set up an interview. Participants choosing to participate in both programs may receive a 30$ discount by registering with both the Managed and Permitted bow program and the lottery-based firearms program.
