Editing and Processing your Photos with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom

Make editing and processing your photos an enjoyable experience! This hands-on course provides an in-depth introduction to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Lightroom, a digital image editing software, is a powerful tool for organizing and managing a digital photography catalog. Learn how to import, organize and manage photos, how to easily edit, correct, and enhance large image collections and how to quickly publish for web, social media and print.

Who should attend: Photographers or photography enthusiasts, beginner or experienced, looking for better organization of their digital images, a streamlined workflow and quicker output of complete photographs.

What you will learn:

  • Concepts of photo "catalog" and of "non-destructive" editing
  • The Lightroom workspace
  • Importing images: creating and managing the library
  • Editing, correcting, and enhancing images and basic retouching
  • Presets and Plugins for quick edits or to automate export tasks
  • Publishing and sharing images directly from Lightroom

What to bring:

This class presumes that you have Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC (not Lightroom CC) installed on your own laptop computer, which you will bring to the class. You can purchase the Creative Cloud "Photography Plan" from the Adobe website for $9.99/month USD, which allows you to install both Lightroom and Photoshop. The software is also available as a trial version. If you have "RAW" image files, please bring them on a USB key or bring your digital camera and a USB cable. This would be a good opportunity to work on your own image files.

Thomas Bock is an experienced photographer based in Chicago with a diverse range of photography skills, from portraits and concerts to events, lifestyle and street photography. He is also a freelance web designer specializing in Wordpress, Squarespace and WooCommerce, social media and SEO. Thomas is a born and raised Chicagoan, but has spent time living in Wisconsin and most recently, 7 years in Montréal, with his wife, 3 children and French Canadian cat Terra Inca Queen of Mars.

When not doing photo or web freelance work, he can likely be found pressed up against a stage somewhere taking photos for lostinconcert.com, for which he is Chicago Editor / Webmaster / Photographer / Writer, or in a studio somewhere recording guitars, experimenting with synth sounds or producing music in Ableton Live. He's also on an eternal quest to locate the best tacos in Chicago.
