In this class children will go on an adventure through the intersecting worlds of science and art. Light is Art! This art class uses photography as its vehicle, yet it will get messy and very hands on. Some of the many activities include building our own projector, learning how to create optical illusions, and learning to see life from different perspectives. Students will work with natural and man-made materials, creating and changing patterns, while learning how light can transform everyday objects into works of art. We will make pinhole cameras and sun prints, imaginary collage worlds, and learn how to think outside the box. We will explore artists past and present, and make work inspired by Letha Wilson's photo sculptures, Kate Steciw's fractured images and Eadweard Muybridge's photographic studies of motion.
