Prerequisites: This course is open to rising 11th and 12th graders. Note: There will be no class on Independence Day's Observed Holiday, July 5, 2021. Upper School courses are offered by the CSG Summer Academy, but organized by IDEAS Summer Camps. Ann McCabe, a CSG teacher will be teaching this CSG credit course. THE COURSE: Health II discusses topics of concern specific to high school and college-bound women. The course helps students make intelligent decisions on matters pertaining to personal and community health. This course offers multiple speakers on different health-related topics, human sexuality, and comprehension of the laws related to drugs and alcohol. Recertification through the American Red Cross, stress management and depression, breast cancer, growth and development, body image and eating disorders, and nutrition are also covered throughout the course.The self-defense portion of the course follows the R.A.D. Systems program of self-defense. It will help students develop safety techniques using their voices as well as physical capabilities in real-world situations. Students should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for daily physical activities. SUMMER ACADEMY INFORMATION: The CSG Summer Academy is an opportunity for students entering grades 9-12 to earn academic credit or to pursue additional enrichment in a subject. Academic credit earned during Summer Academy can help students create a flexible schedule during the academic year. All credit courses are three weeks in length and daily attendance in credit courses is required to receive academic credit. Credit course offerings are divided into three-week terms. Credit classes must have a minimum of six students registered in order for the class to run. Space is limited and we do expect some classes to fill very quickly, so please register early.
