Come set sail on a voyage to discover what it was really like to be a Pirate during the colonial period! We'll explore the biggest names in piracy--Captain Morgan, Blackbeard, and Captain Kidd--while discovering what it really meant to be a pirate on the high seas. Using primary source data and popular culture, we'll discuss the unique economic practices of pirates, their social structure, the legal system, and the lore around them, from their flags to their guns and everything in between. Parrot not included. Instructor: Sarah Lloyd, Gilman Upper School History Teacher
