Michael Nystrom is the former triathlon and cycling editor, and a current freelance writer, for ACTIVE.com.
A California native, Michael grew up surfing, skateboarding, and playing music in Los Angeles before he found an interest in endurance sports. In college, he raced collegiately on the HSU cycling team (where he also tried his first sprint triathlon) and graduated from the University of Southern California with an MA in Digital Journalism.
Since then he has done countless sprint- and Olympic-distance triathlons raced IRONMAN 70.3 California, and raced IRONMAN 140.6 Arizona and Texas. Of the three disciplines, cycling is his favorite.
