Come join Mr. Hayat as he explores several fun and exciting chess variations. The first variation we will explore is a team variety called bughouse. This game will encourage and reward communication skills and teamwork as well as standard chess skills. The second game we will learn is called "Take Me" where we will do our best to lose our pieces as fast as possible. This game is fun because it is the exact opposite of chess where our goal is to maintain our positions as long as possible. However, by learning how to lose our pieces quickly, we will learn how to avoid losing our pieces when we play standard chess. We will also explore atomic chess. This game is fun as it gives young players an opportunity to see the impact of capturing a piece not just on that piece but on all the squares surrounding it. Chess Battleship is a fun game that also helps students work together with their teammates as well as helps them increase their memory skills. Finally we will learn Peasants vs Royals. The armies are not equal in size or strength and yet the battle between both sides can be every bit as exciting as a regular chess game and with additional ways to win, learning to stop your opponent from getting across the board is a fun way to practice defensive maneuvering.
