Intermediate wheel pottery class with a special class focus on salt firing. In salt firing, salt is introduced into the kiln atmosphere, which interacts with the clay body and glazes producing unique effects in color and texture. Students will learn how to glaze for salt firing and help load and unload the salt kiln to learn more about the firing process. Students must have completed at least two beginning pottery on the wheel classes to enroll. They must be able to center clay and throw basic shapes. We will build on those basics to learn how to make more complex shapes, and how to alter forms created on the wheel. Class will be held on site with physical distancing and mask requirements. Instructor: Doug Tobin Day/Time: Thursdays, 7:00-9:30PM Studio Access: 5:00-7:00PM on class days
