COLLABORATIVE POETRY W/ HANDSET TYPE (PRINTMAKING) WORKSHOP /Bryan BakerSaturday, June 20thfrom 12 - 4 PM1 Day
Class Fee: $70
Come learn the basics of traditional letterpress typesetting. Participants will learn how to properly set lines of type in their composing stick, and lock-up a form on a small proofing press. The beauty of this one-day workshop is that we'll be able to realize and print an edition of a "broadside poem" that is more substantial than one an individual could realize while working on their own in the same amount of time. Previous experience with writing poetry is not necessary. A rather Frankensteinian manner writing will take place as separate independently developed portions of text will come together on the press. After an initial proof is read aloud, a compelling rearrangement will be made by thoughtfully reshuffling the lines into an order that the class finds most compelling. Have no fear, the subject we'll rally around for our typesetting will be chosen at the beginning of the class so being prepared for this workshop only requires that you show up ready for fun.
