BEGINNING MACHINE SEWING /Hellenne Vermillion

Class Fee: $165

Build your sewing confidence by creating a zippered pouch and a tote bag. In this class, students will explore various fabrics and weights, learn about stitch lengths, and discover useful tips for successful sewing. Please bring a tested, working sewing machine and its manual, if available, as well as bobbins suited to your machine's brand. A supply list is attached. The $20 fee includes materials for both projects and more.

You will need an operating sewing machine that turns on, has the plug, a foot, and runs. Look on YouTube for a tutorial video before coming for class. I recommend the Janome basic beginner sewing machines.

Supplies: Fabric scissors (Fiskars not Pinking Shears), Thread (in light grey and dark grey(I prefer Gutterman and Mettler), Seam Ripper, Sharp glass head pins (not plastic pins), and Bobbins to match your machine.

REFUND POLICY: To receive a refund, students must submit their request at least 2 weeks before the first class. No refunds or transfers are guaranteed after this time. To withdraw from a class, you are required to email ChastainArts@AtlantaGA.gov and include your name, the class name, and your reason for withdrawal. The option to accept an account credit for the class withdrawal is preferred. If a withdrawal/refund is requested after 2 weeks prior to or after the class has begun, a $30 administration fee will be deducted and only an account credit will be processed to be used for future class registrations, clay purchases, and future purchases in our gift shop & gallery. If a class is running at minimum enrollment, we cannot process refunds or credits within 1 week of the class starting. If you register for a class after the session has begun, only an account credit will be processed if a withdrawal is requested. Anyone registered for a figure class with a model will be required to pay the model fee on the first day of class with cash or check to the instructor. Even if you request a withdrawal after the first day of class, you will be required to pay the model fee calculated based on enrollment on the first-class meeting. The Chastain Arts Center is not responsible for classes missed due to student absences and the student is not eligible to receive a refund or credit for any missed classes due to a student absence. Please discuss any unavoidable absences with your instructor
