Students will build an 18" × 18" cherry end table, approximately 28"–31" high, using traditional mortise-and-tenon construction and hide glue.

The project will feature:

Tapered 1" square legs, shaped with machines and refined with hand planes

Full-depth 3/4" tenons using offset joinery for strength

Lightweight 3/4" × 1/2" aprons, with multiple aprons per side

A multi-piece top assembled with splines and pins

Cherry for the standard top is included in the materials fee. As an option, students may purchase highly figured crotch mahogany, cherry, or black walnut from Orion Lumber in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Purchasing and shipping optional material is entirely the student's responsibility and is not handled by Rec & Ed or the instructors.
