FIRST is a not-for-profit organization that encourages kids to explore science and technology through collaboration with mentors and teammates. In the spirit of FIRST’s mission and values, our programs focus on building self-confidence and STEM skills by providing kids with an inclusive and respectful environment. FIRST LEGO League: Challenge is designed for students in 4th-8th grade. Classrooms will be limited to no more than 6 students and 1 educator. This program will be offered continually through the 2020-2021 season in 4-week segments. Each segment will build upon the prior knowledge of the students in that class. Teams of up to three (3) students will investigate real-world challenges and learn about how scientists are tackling them. After exploring the many ways science can be used to solve these problems, students build and program a motorized LEGO EV3 that must navigate a challenge mat while successfully completing various tasks and present their final research project to a panel of judges. This year's theme is all about finding new ways to play and be active outdoors! For more information please see the official FIRST kickoff video at: https://youtu.be/IxpXg5J5WdY. Please Note: • All other spaces and exhibits will NOT be available, due to COVID-19. • Masks are required for all staff, volunteers, and program participants. • Temperature checks are required for all staff, volunteers, and program participants. • Classrooms will be limited to 6 students. • Each participating child must be registered for the program; discounts on registering multiple children or for multiple camps automatically apply during checkout. • Each student will work with their own materials at tables separated by at least 6 feet.
