MSF Basic RiderCourse (BRC) The best place to start once you've made the decision to ride. It covers the basics of operating a motorcycle and safety-oriented mental strategies. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use. The Basic RiderCourse consists of a three-hour eCourse, five hours of formal classroom activities, and ten hours of riding instruction conducted over two days, plus a knowledge and skill tests. This course is required for licensing. Attendance both days is mandatory. Upon completion, a TX DPS certificate is issued to take to the Driver’s License office in order to be able to obtain the "M" endorsement. You MUST complete the MSF Basic eCourse prior (within 30 days) to your class date. The eCourse takes approximately 3 hours to complete. You will need to bring a copy of the completion certificate with you on the first day of class. If you do not bring the certificate with you, you will not be permitted to take the class. Refunds will not be issued if you arrive without your certificate. DO NOT pay for the eCourse. After registration for the Basic RiderCourse, you will receive an email with the link and instruction for the eCourse.
