Run Wild at the Patagonian International Marathon

The Patagonian International Marathon provides runners with the opportunity to run a 10K, half marathon, marathon or 63K (39.14 miles) while admiring the breathtaking views of the glacier-fed lakes, snow-capped Torres del Paine mountains and unique wildlife on September 28, 2013. The event hopes to draw attention to the conservation of Chilean Patagonia, and to the sustainable development of the area. For each race entry, organizers pledge to donate a tree to Reforestemos Patagonia, a campaign whose goal is to plant 1 million trees in the region.

Nick Barraza, a mountain runner and English language teacher in Chile, is an ambassador of the race who is tasked with raising awareness about the race and its environmental causes. Read more about what it's like to run in Patagonia in this interview with Barraza.
